Sponsored Placement for People with Special Needs

Through our Family Life program, individuals with intellectual disabilities live in homes with families rather than in a group home or an institution, maximizing their potential for independent living, learning and socialization. Family Life providers receive customized training, work as a team with Case Managers and Family Life Clinicians to provide assistance and training for the client, and receive monthly reimbursement for providing this valuable, caring service. If you are interested in opening up your home to a person with disabilities, please contact David Ballard at 757.965.8631.

Please note that placement of someone with Intellectual Disabilities in the Family Life Program requires that the individual be the recipient of a Medicaid MR Waiver and that a a referral is made by their Case Manager from the Community Services Board. If someone you know is Intellectually Disabled, and you have questions about the Medicaid MR Waiver or the referral process, please contact the CSB from which they receive services.
